Eva Green Finds Interest In ‘300’ Prequel: Battle of Artemisia

(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)

Eva Green has been eyeing up the title role in Noam Murro‘s 300 prequel, Battle of Artemisia, THR reported this week.

300: Battle of Artemisia will tell the story of Greek General Themistocles who leads Athens against Persian invaders in a battle played out simultaneously with the battle depicted in Zack Snyder‘s 2006 gore-filled predecessor, 300.

Green, best known for her role as Vesper Lynd in 2006’s Bond film Casino Royale, could be headed to the 5th century BC to star in this prequel, which was originally based on Frank Miller‘s 1998 comic book mini-series.

“We have to say that Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, his writing partner, have killed it,” screenplay writer Mark Canton told ComingSoon.net. “They’ve done a tremendous job making a highly intelligent, epic story that will stand on its own. But it’s not a conventional sequel and, for what we do, that’s what you hope and pray for; that you can be original and authentic at the same time.”

Green also recently appeared in Perfect Sense alongside Ewan McGregor, as well as on the British TV series Camelot.

300: Battle of Artemisia is set to be released sometime in 2013.
